After the introduction we had on substance control, I got intrigued by the text of Mark Fisher and the term Hauntology. By reading it’s book Ghost of My Life opened a new world to me. Even though, I think I was always gravitating around it in my personal work without knowing it.
While reading I listen to most of the music he was mentioning in the book, The caretaker, John Foxx, Ghost box record label and the work of Drexciya.
I’ve decided, I wanted to create at first a series of fake landscapes and see how with images we can control, trick what a person can see and feel. But I had the feeling this was not enough. I decide to implement music was well to have a visual and auditory stimulus.
The work of the caretaker really had an impact on me. You can here in the music I have created are heavily influenced my him. The first song is really similar to his album an empty bliss beyond this world. The second song is also influenced by his other albums everywhere at the end of time. The last is more towards the sci-fi side with a more electronic and futuristic sound.
I’ve also tried to create 3 artworks with this feeling of nostalgia and timeless. The first goal was to create some futuristic landscape where the world is dry and just full of rocks, without any life.
While talking the picture I was also working of the story and the music. Then my plan to create a landscape shifted a bit to still life and abstraction.
I used a very specific technique to take the pictures called “wet plate”. Because I wanted to create a timeless piece and the aesthetic of that technique gives that timeless vibe.
At the end, my work is close to a sonic fiction a term I’m not totally sure, though. The whole topic with hauntology and lost future is quite hard to grapes. In my head it makes sense but hard to translate into words or a work.
I think I barely scratch the surface of a topic that fascinates me.

Image try out with Tintype
Some Information about the technique.
A tintype is a photograph made by creating a direct positive on a thin sheet of metal coated with a dark lacquer and used as the support for the photographic emulsion. It's a process from 1851. The images are totally made from scratch.
It's one of the first photography process
The final work
It gives a timless feeling to the images. lost somewhere in time.

A time capsule, containing a warning of a future devoid of all life. Where machines roam on the barren plains.
The work is composed of three sounds and images representing a world without life after humans have destroyed life.
Each piece represents a stage of this destruction.
The first piece opens with a piano melody, but this one is already impregnated with imperfections.
Life still exists, but it's fragile.
The second piece opens with a small melody, but very quickly this one is jammed. A feeling of déjà vu, a frustration, the world falls into chaos. Humans seek to repair their errors. They want to go back, however, it is already too late, the damage is done. Life is gone.
The third piece announces the era of the machine, where the echoes of humanity resound through a desolate world.
By always wanting to control everything, the human being lost himself. His thirst for power has led him to his own downfall.
